The route

Cruise along the Erdre by boat with Ruban Vert!

From Sucé-sur-Erdre, two navigation options are available to you: either southbound, towards Nantes and its magnificent castles; or northbound, towards the Mazerolles plains and the charming port of Nort-sur-Erdre.

Reach the Île de Versailles nautical base in Nantes

The round trip will take a little over 4 hours, depending on the boat chosen. You will admire majestic castles, built from the 16th to the 19th centuries, which will delight art and history enthusiasts:

  • Château de Nay and Château de la Couronnerie: the two buildings, separated by the Erdre and a forest, face each other on the path leading to Sucé-sur-Erdre.
  • Take advantage of our pontoon opposite the Château de la Gascherie to take some photos.
  • A little further on your left, you will see the former large agricultural estate, Parc de la Chantrerie in part, and the National Veterinary School of Nantes for the other part.
  • Admire Château de la Desnerie, located in the commune of La Chapelle-sur-Erdre.
  • After passing the Beaujoire and Jonelière bridges, you will glimpse Château de l’Eraudière on your left.
  • Pass the Tortière bridge and reach our nautical base on Île de Versailles, in the center of Nantes.

Reach the Nort-sur-Erdre nautical base

It is also possible to navigate towards Nort-sur-Erdre (allow 4 hours round trip from Sucé-sur-Erdre), to discover natural areas by going up the Erdre to the Mazerolles plains. This site is part of the Erdre marshes and offers a journey rich in discoveries with exceptional migratory fauna and protected flora. Along your route, discover:

  • Château de Jaille on your left.
  • Enjoy a preserved wild site of the Plain and Île de Mazerolles. Classified as a Natura 2000 zone, the site is a green oasis between plain and marsh, a paradise for birds as more than 140 species of birds and rare plants are protected there.
  • Make a stopover at the pontoon of La Gamotrie, then head up towards the Plaine de la Poupinière, where the Quiheix lock marks the entrance to the Canal de Nantes à Brest.
  • Along your navigation before reaching the port of Nort-sur-Erdre, admire Château du Pont-Hus on your right and Château de Port-Mulon.
