Do you supervise children and wish to offer them an original school outing, without needing to travel far from Nantes?
Opt for a boat trip on the Nantes rivers!
From the Erdre to the Sèvre Nantaise, let students discover the local flora and fauna during a school outing! For the duration of a trip, provide a memorable life and earth sciences (SVT) lesson for the children.
Regarding fauna, you might be lucky enough to spot the beavers of the Sèvre, a few coypus, and perhaps a genet for the most observant schoolchildren.
Birds are also present in large numbers: grey or black-crowned night heron, cormorant, gull, spoonbill, coot, mallard, swan…
Regarding flora, this is an opportunity to introduce students to protected local plants. You will see creeping cinquefoil, Moore’s horsetail, or even St. Roch’s herb. The waters of Nantes are also home to exotic plants. They were introduced to France over a century ago, such as Brazilian watermilfoil or Jussie.
You also have the option to navigate towards the Mazerolles plain, located on a migratory route. Dozens of species of animals, birds, and plants await you there!

Beyond biology, it is also possible to give your students a history lesson, as the architectural and historical heritage along the banks of the Erdre is so rich.
Numerous castles and manors line the banks of the Erdre: from your electric boat, enjoy a sensational view of castles dating from the 14th to the 20th century. An opportunity for children to discover:
• First, the Château de l’Eraudière, built in the 16th century with its facade facing the Erdre.
• Next, the Château de la Desnerie, classified as a historical monument, and its twin tower dating from the 15th century.
• Then, the Château de la Poterie, whose construction was completed in 1789 by the architect Ceineray.
• After, the Château de la Chantrerie: with its immense park well known to Nantes residents, it has overlooked the Erdre since 1820.
• Following this, the Château de la Gascherie, built in the 15th century and classified as a historical monument. It served as a refuge for Protestants expelled from Nantes in 1563.
• Finally, the Château de Nay: built in the 19th century, it contains a tower, a private chapel, and a dovecote.
As the Erdre has been modified throughout history, it is also an opportunity to discuss the Second World War with your students, near the Cours des 50 Otages.
Indeed, the Cours was named after the shooting of 48 prisoners by the German occupation authorities, in retaliation for the assassination of Karl Hotz. Among these 48 hostages was Guy Môquet, aged 17.

For school outings, please first remember to book your expedition date as early as possible, indicating the number of students and accompanying adults. This will allow us to determine how many electric boats will be needed.
Our electric boats can accommodate a maximum of 10 people per boat: ideal for learning in small groups! We provide information folders on routes and points of interest as a cheat sheet 😉
Finally, trips can depart from two points: our boat rental base on Île de Versailles (Nantes), or the one in Sucé-sur-Erdre.
To book, write to us using our contact form and we will put your school project together. You can also book online!
